Paso Robles, CA Wine Country

We met up with friends, Steve and Susan, that we had met at GVP (Golden Village Palms) for a day of wine tours and what a Wonderful day it was!!!

They started us out at a fabulous brunch at La Cosecha Restaurant in Downtown Paso.  There was live music, great food and a personal touch as the owner stopped to see if everything was good.  It’s a quaint restaurant and town.  The city park is surrounded by great restaurants and apparel shops.  I’d love to see it at night as there are giant lanterns hanging from the trees and light strings around trees as well.

We then drove to the Halter Ranch Vineyard on the west side of town.  Simply Gorgeous and the story behind it is really amazing.  We even got a sneak peek at the aging cellar, or “cave” 😀

An interesting fact that we learned while there is that the white house, just to the left as you enter, was in the movie “Arachnophobia”.  The beautiful bridge that spans the creek has a story all it’s own and they host elegant dinners on the bridge at times.

Then we headed up to Tablas Creek where we got our own private tasting room complete with food for pairing.  After the tasting we sat on the patio and listened to the live music and visited.  It was a perfect day with wonderful company!

Our next stop was the Re-Find Distillery where we learned about distilling the leftover grape juice into Vodka, who knew!

We finished up our day with dinner at Pappy McGregor’s, which was a very nice end to a perfect day!

There is so much to see and do in Paso Robles so we will definitely come back.  Steve & Sue’s recommendation for us is to stay at the Wine Country RV Resort next time.  After checking out the website, we definitely will!

So tomorrow we’re meeting my cousin’s daughter for dinner at the Farmer’s Market in Monterey.  Stay tuned…

See you on the road!
